PHY - 106 Survey of Physics (4 s.h.)
Corequisite: MAT - 092 Intermediate Algebra or equivalent. This is an introductory, one-semester course treating a selection of important topics in physics. The current offering emphasizes light, electricity, magnetism, the wave-particle duality of quantum mechanics, and the Special Theory of Relativity. In connection with these themes, topics such as force and the motion of particles; the concept of energy; the nature and properties of waves; and the history of physics, are also considered. This course addresses the general education skills of scientific literacy and critical thinking. A previous physics course is not required.
