SOC - 110 Introduction to Sociology (3 s.h.)
This course introduces students to sociology: the scholarly study of society. Students will use the sociological perspective and theories to investigate the following: what holds societies together, what causes societies to change, and how social forces affect our daily lives. Students will also be introduced to the research methods sociologists use to answer these questions. Topics covered include: micro and macro levels of social organization, culture and society, socialization, social research, groups, organizations, institutions, deviance, gender, race, ethnicity, and cultural diversity.
