PEH - 182 Practical Personal Safety Awareness and Self-Defense (1 s.h.)
Prerequisite: PEH - 181 Principles of Personal Safety Awareness and Self-Defense or permission of instructor. While no course on the subject of self-defense can offer absolutes, individuals armed with information and tactical options have better odds of avoiding and/or deterring violence. PEH 182 provides students the opportunity to apply principles learned in PEH - 181 Principles of Personal Safety Awareness and Self-Defense and to develop simple and expedient physical self-defense tactics. With and undergirding drawn from women’s studies, the psychology of violence, and self-defense, course content necessarily focuses upon those tactics and strategies that improve the odds for the deterrence and/or avoidance of violence. Students must successfully complete PEH - 181 Principles of Personal Safety Awareness and Self-Defense in order to take PEH 182.
