ART - 101 Art Appreciation (3 s.h.)
This introductory course invites students to explore the world of art as both a reflection of and influence on human society. Focusing on appreciation, creativity, and the role of art in culture, students will examine various forms and styles, from classical to contemporary, spanning different media and cultural contexts. Through engaging lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on workshops, students will learn how to observe, interpret, and appreciate art in its many forms. The course emphasizes the connections between art and society, fostering an understanding of how art both shapes and is shaped by social, historical, and cultural forces. By the end of the course, students will have a deeper appreciation for art’s creative processes and social impact, along with the tools to discuss and analyze works of art with confidence. No prior art experience is required; this course is open to anyone interested in understanding the visual language of art and its significance in our world.
