MAT - 120 College Algebra (for Liberal Arts) (3 s.h.)
Prerequisite: MAT - 092 Intermediate Algebra with a grade of C or higher, or ACT Math score of at least 21, or minimum score on a placement exam (for COMPASS, Algebra score of at least 76), or Accuplacer Elementary Algebra score of at least 116, or Accuplacer College Math score of at least 45. This course will satisfy a general education requirement in the Math/Science area. Topics include a study of various classes of functions, their graphs and their applications to problem-solving. Embedded in this study is the essential ability to solve linear, quadratic, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic equations. This liberal arts course is not preparation for calculus.
