Agronomy Diploma

Location(s): Main Campus

The Agronomy Diploma at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) provides students with specialized training in crop production, soil science, and precision agriculture. Designed as an additional credential for Agriculture AAS students, this diploma can be earned without extending the program by strategically selecting agronomy-focused courses during the second year. The curriculum covers soil fertility, pest management, grain and forage crops, and precision farming technologies, along with farm business management and agricultural marketing. Graduates will be prepared for careers in crop consulting, agribusiness, and farm management, equipped with the skills to enhance productivity and sustainability in modern agriculture.

Program Goal

In the second year of study, students can enhance their AAS degree by choosing an emphasis in either agronomy or animal science, earning an additional diploma alongside their degree.

Alternatively, students may opt for a blended approach, combining coursework from both focus areas for a well-rounded education in agricultural practices and principles. This flexibility allows students to align their studies with their passions and career aspirations.

The goal of the Agronomy and Animal Science Diplomas is to provide Agriculture AAS students with specialized knowledge and advanced skills in their chosen area of focus, enabling them to excel in careers related to crop production or livestock management. These diplomas enhance the AAS degree by offering in-depth expertise, preparing graduates to address the specific challenges and opportunities in agronomy, animal science, or a combination of both within the agricultural industry.
