Emergency Medical Responder Certificate

The Emergency Medical Responder course is the entry-level course in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. This course provides the student with the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and treat life-threatening emergencies, wounds and fractures, medical and environmental emergencies, and patient access and handling. The course is 45 hours in length and utilizes a combination of classroom lectures and skill practice. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to test for EMR certification.

Entrance Requirements for EMR:

1. Must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment.
2. Must provide documentation of current certification in American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers prior to course completion.

Upon successful completion of the Emergency Medical Responder curriculum with a grade point average of 2.00 (C) or higher and a minimum overall cumulative college grade point average of 2.00 (C), the student is awarded a Certificate.
