Accounting, Sample Schedule (2-Year Plan)


Are you interested in transferring to a four-year college or university and earning a bachelor’s degree? Students may wish to earn an Associate of Arts and apply their studies toward a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field at a four-year college or university. Students need courses that will facilitate their transfer to four-year institutions of their choice. Please consult with a NIACC counselor for assistance in determining a schedule to meet your goal.

The Business Division’s highest priority is to assist students in reaching their individual educational goals. Each instructor is dedicated to providing the highest quality instruction to facilitate this process.

The Associate in Arts Degree meets the General Education Requirements for the College of Liberal Arts at most transfer institutions.

Note: The University of Iowa requires MAT - 156 Introduction to Statistics  for prerequisite course for the College of Business.

Note: For accounting majors at the University of Iowa, a 2.67 (B-) cumulative GPA is required in ACC - 121 Principles of Accounting I  and ACC - 122 Principles of Accounting II , as well as a 2.75 prerequisite GPA and 3.0 cumulative GPA, and passing a writing assessment.

Note: MAT - 140 Finite Math  and MAT - 165 Calculus (Business)  will satisfy University of Northern Iowa’s Decision Techniques Class if both are taken at NIACC.
