MAP - 359 Clinical Procedures II

Prerequisites: MAP - 353 Clinical Procedures I ; BCA - 129 Basic Word Processing ; BUS - 121 Business Communications ; HSC - 120 Medical Terminology I ; HSC - 150 Body Structure and Function  or BIO - 206 Anatomy and Physiology I  and BIO - 207 Anatomy and Physiology II .
Corequisites: ADM - 215 Medical Office Procedures ; BUS - 162 Workplace Professionalism ; HIT - 210 Basic Medical Insurance and Coding ; HSC - 121 Medical Terminology II ; MAP - 401 Medical Law and Ethics .
This course is a continuation of MAP - 353 Clinical Procedures I  with emphasis on pharmacology, administration of medications, electrocardiography, principles of radiography, gerontology and collection and testing of laboratory specimens. Students are placed in a clinical setting for 1 semester hour of credit (45 clock hours) for application of theory and skills.  If the student is taking course work for the medical assistant curriculum beyond a one-year period, this course should be taken during the final year of the curriculum.
