Customized Training
Through a large network of industry experts, NIACC provides innovative, high-quality training services designed to meet your specific workforce needs. NIACC trainers bring years of experience and valuable insight to your workplace, allowing for an immediate impact on your day-to-day business operations. We will sit down with you to determine your exact training needs. Customized training can be provided on-site at your company, on the NIACC campus, or at a convenient location in your area. Standardized offerings include courses through the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM), and the American Society of Quality (ASQ).
Health and Wellness
The Continuing Education Department provides a wide range of health-related education opportunities such as licensing/relicensing requirements for various boards. A variety of courses for the public are also available. For the convenience of the student, a mix of traditional, online, and hybrid course delivery methods are used. Work-Based Learning
Work-Based Learning is a partnership between businesses and secondary and post-secondary educators and training providers. Work-based learning helps students develop new skills and connections through opportunities such as industry tours and field trips, job shadows, class projects, cooperative work experience, internships, apprenticeships, and hands-on experience embedded into classwork.
Registered Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career connection through which employers can develop and prepare their future workforce. Students can fast-track their career goals and earn a competitive wage.
DiscoverU
DiscoverU is about becoming the best version of yourself, whether you are seeking your high school equivalency diploma or enhancing your life skills through a variety of interactive courses, from art to culinary skills, from computer coding to photography. Life enrichment courses are available on the NIACC campus in Mason City, at one of five regional outreach centers in Charles City, Garner, Hampton, Lake Mills, and Osage, and the John V. Hanson Career Center in Forest City. Offerings are also available in the communities of Belmond, Britt, and Clear Lake.
Lifelong Learning Institute
Membership of the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) allows adults of all ages to experience the joy of learning without grades, tests, or homework for a mere $99 annual membership for two consecutive semesters of classes. Members can study interesting topics and enjoy new friendships while learning college-level content.
Retired Senior Volunteer Program
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of North Central Iowa is part of a national volunteer network for people 55 and older called AmeriCorps Seniors. Locally, NIACC and the Continuing Education Department sponsor RSVP. The program partners with a variety of non-profit organizations, including elementary and middle schools, throughout a six-county area. RSVP Volunteers use their skills, talents, and life experience to help meet community needs through volunteer service. RSVP serves the counties of Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Hancock, Mitchell, Winnebago, and Worth.
State Funded Programs
The NIACC Continuing Education Department participates in a variety of student assistance and economic development-related state funded programs. The funding initiatives focus on driving student success and workforce solutions. Student success programs provide financial, educational, personal, and career support to both credit and non-credit students. Business workforce solutions offer North Iowa businesses a collaborative approach with convenient customized training, networking, and professional development opportunities while supporting industries as they expand and enhance within emerging technologies. A current list of state-funded programs is housed in the Continuing Education Department.
