MFG - 225 Machine Theory I (3 s.h.)
Corequisites: IND - 190 Skills and Safety in Industry ; MFG - 100 Measurement and Inspection ; MFG - 120 Machine Trade Printreading I ; MFG - 137 Machinist Math I or MAT - 801 Applied Math A and MAT - 802 Applied Math B ; MFG - 226 Machine Operations I ; or instructor approval. This course covers the theory of basic machining processes involving layout, drill press, engine lathe, vertical mills, drills, saws, bench tools, measuring tools, and grinders. Classes will cover safety, tooling, metal removal methods, and various pieces of equipment. Safety is taught as it applies to each machine process. Proper terminology of the machinist trade is emphasized.
